ThothX Meridian and MEO (Altice Portugal) have signed a new partnership agreement for the use of satellite infrastructure at the Alfouvar Teleport in Sintra, marking the expansion of the company’s planned radar network to mainland Portugal.
The agreement provides ThothX Meridian with access to Sintra-1, a 32-metre antenna, together with technical co-location and office space to support development and operation of the radar project.
The partnership builds on the cooperation initiated in 2023 around the reactivation of telecommunications infrastructure at Fajã de Cima, São Miguel. The addition of Sintra creates a second Portuguese location and the first Earthfence radar infrastructure planned for mainland Portugal.
Together, the Sintra and Azores stations are intended to provide persistent GEO monitoring over the Atlantic and Europe, strengthening the European footprint of the global Earthfence network.
The agreement also demonstrates the scalability of ThothX’s approach: giving large telecommunications antennas a new operational role in Space Domain Awareness while creating a complementary two-site radar capability from Portugal.
